    Looks awfully close to the old measurment know as the cubit. Now a days, it's believed that it's approximately a foot and a half or 18 (in) but they've discovered that the old Egyptian cubic was more like 20

    As an American carpenter I prefer ours. When you are in GO mode I prefer less lines. We normally just use eighth, quarter, half and three quarters. If it's a 16th we just say an eighth "fat". Or slightly less than a eighth we say "take the line"

      Home Depot and Lowes have them but only through their website or app. And it'll be Metric/SAE combo only. For Metric only tape measures, eBay or Amazon is your best bet.

    • @jerry-st7rc
      @jerry-st7rc 2 місяці тому

      Honestly the American way is simpler and faster for building a home. The metric lines on a tape are so small where as an American one they are easier to see basically. You really just need to know eighths, a quarter, a half and 3/4. 16ths you dont have to worry as much on most things building a home. In the uk, you have to be in a harness when above 6 feet off the ground.

    Let's put it this way you order two pizzas same size pizzas. Now one of them you you slice into 8 equal sized pieces. The next one you slice into 16 pieces also of equal size. Then with pizza will have larger slices. Wow troubling you put this garbage on the internet claiming the smallest readable increment of a tape is 1/8 of an inch. No its 1/16!! Duh just order two pizzas and slice them bud!!

    • @MeasuringMarvels
      @MeasuringMarvels 5 місяців тому

      With the tape measure I used, you can get close by increasing 2/5ths up to 6/15ths and then look at 6/16ths. Then, 6/16ths simplifies to 3/8ths. There are tape measures that use inches, but have 10ths lines instead of fractions.
